The 2017 Woonsocket School Q107.3 Quiz Bowl team consisted of Captain Tristan Ziebart, team members Nathan Linke and Taylor Burkel, with alternates Riley Schmiedt and Wyatt Feistner. In Quiz Bowl, two teams compete head-to-head to answer questions from all areas of knowledge including history, literature, science, fine arts, current events, sports, and popular culture. After losing their first round to Bon Homme 2 to 3 in October, they went on to to win 4 consecutive matches beating out Andes Central, Ethan, Hanson, and Gregory, which earned them one of the top 8 spots out of the 32 schools in the competition. The final competition between the top 8 took place live on stage at the Pepsi Cola Theatre in MItchell on January 14th. The team tried their best but unfortunately lost out to Mount Vernon 4-6 earning them 7th place in the overall competition. The team had a great season and they hope to be back in the finals next year. They would like to thank the community for their support and Hegg Insurance for sponsoring the team. the matches can be heard on Q1073radio.com by following the Quizbowl link.

HELP
WANTED……. We have a
fantastic Winterguard Organization which practices several times a
week. These young ladies put many hours of hard work into this
program, unfortunately our competitions are all in Minneapolis. We
are estimating the expense per participant (travel, costume, drill, equipment,
circuit membership fee) at about $500 per student. The members
plan on doing some fund raising, but past experience has proven that we will
fall short. We have some students who have been attending practices
faithfully, but realize financially they won’t be able to afford
it. At this time we are hoping to find sponsors – not to just hand
money over, but to provide these members with jobs to earn their
way. If you are willing to help us out – please contact Mr.
Kroeger at brett.kroeger@k12.sd.us
