School News
Spring Pictures will be
sent home today and tomorrow. If you do not plan on keeping any of the pictures
please send them back with your child by Thursday, May 5th.
If you plan on keeping them please return your money by Thursday, May 5th.
The 5th and 6th Grade
Classes are going to the Ronald McDonald House for their Field Trip this year.
They need your help to make it past their goal!!! On May 11th they will be
going to the Ronald McDonald House and they still need many items to reach
their goal! Please help make this possible for them so they can help others!
They are in need of toiletry items, such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, paper
towels, and Kleenexes.
Jim VanDenHemel Day to
be held on Friday, May 6
The Woonsocket City
Council and the Woonsocket school have approved and dedicated Friday, May 6 as
Jim VanDenHemel Day. Mr. VanDenHemel has been a part of the
Woonsocket School and community for 45 years and will be retiring as the
Woonsocket School Industrial Tech teacher at the end of the school year.
Various activities will
go throughout the day starting with a staff breakfast. The community is invited
to a walk-around-the-lake with Mr. V at 1:00PM (weather permitting) and an
assembly in the gym at 1:30PM. Ice Cream bars will be handed out
afterwards provided by the Woonsocket Student Council.
Athletics
We are
going to the High School Miller Track Meet today. Bus leaves at 9AM. Students attending are
Rex, Tayla, McKenzy, Wyatt, Destiny, Peyton, Colton, Jared, Matt, Sydney, Trey,
Tristan, Spens, Erica, Sarah, Corey, Jordan, Ellie, Kaylee, Taylor, Caycee.
HS Golf
at Wessington Springs. Students attending are Brady and Alissa. Leave at 12PM.
No JH Track Practice
Dakota
Wesleyan University Women’s Basketball Team is hosting a Girl’s Individual Camp
on June 13th-15th in Mitchell, for grades K-8. If
you would like a Form please come see Emily.

FFA
Mr. Gross will be
putting on an informational night for parents about Supervised Agricultural
Experiences (SAEs). This informational night will cover the following:
- What is an SAE
- The types of SAEs
(Entrepreneurship, Placement, or Agribusiness)
- The expectations of SC/W FFA
members as related to SAEs (during the school year and the summer)
- How to access the record
keeping system the FFA uses (www.theaet.com)
- How to enter basic SAE records
- FFA awards from SAE projects
(proficiency awards, SD FFA Star awards)
More information will
be released next week on the specifics on date(s) and location(s). Please email
Mr. Gross if you have any questions.

Post Prom
Post Prom will be
hosting their final fundraiser of the year prior to the Spring Concert. Each
family is asked to bring a pie to the school the morning of May 3rd. Thanks
again for all your support throughout the year!
The Woonsocket Post Prom
Committee is having a pie social on Tuesday, May 3 at 6:00 pm in the commons
area of the school before the Spring Concert. Pie will also be
served after the concert. It is $3.00 for a slice of pie and a
drink. The concert starts at 7:00 pm.

Community News
The
Town N Kountry Kids 4-H Club and the Woonsocket American Legion Post #29 are
working together to have a Flag Burning Ceremony for the disposal of
unserviceable US flags. The ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 5th at 2:30 pm by the museum/bridge area of the lake. The
public is invited to attend. If you have unserviceable flags that need to
be burned, please get them to any Legion member, or drop them off at the
Woonsocket Library.
