Eligibility and privilege list will be taken Monday, Nov. 7th.


There will be a wrestling meeting in the DDN room at 11AM on Monday for 7-12 students.


The Blackhawk High School players will have a team meeting on Tuesday, November 1st at 4:00 pm at Woonsocket. It will last about 30-45 minutes. We really would like to have all HS players at this meeting. Thank you

Also, we have not scheduled it yet, but we will be having a Blackhawk Football Awards night sometime in next few weeks at Wessington Springs.

SDSU is hosting their annual SDSU School Day on Saturday, November 5th as the Jackrabbits host the Missouri State Bears. Kick off is at 2:00pm. The school that brings the largest group of fans will win an appearance from SDSU cheerleaders, dance team, and Jack their mascot. Tickets will be discounted! Click here for more information.

Are you interested in joining Winterguard, but aren’t sure how to spin or toss a flag? No problem!! The Blackhawks Winterguard will be holding practices for students that are interested to see what it is all about!!! Only requirements are that you are a member of band and are at least in 7th grade. 

Pre-season practices are the following:

3:45 to 6:00pm Tues Nov 1st @ Woonsocket

Feeding South Dakota plans food giveaway in Woonsocket, SD!

Truckload of food will be distributed to area families in need.

Sanborn County Food Pantry, in partnership with Feeding South Dakota, will be hosting a truckload food giveaway in Woonsocket, SD. An estimated 22,000 pounds of food will be distributed beginning at 5 PM and continuing until all of the food is gone. There are no restrictions of eligibility except that only one box of food will be distributed per family in need.

Boxes will contain assorted frozen and fresh produce, frozen meats, assorted breads and assorted canned and boxed items. The truck will be located at the Woonsocket Community Center. Boxes will be available at the location, but you can bring your own if you wish.



T-Hugs would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Cancer Awareness Night (especially the players and organizers) for their generous donation. Without your help we wouldn’t be able to spread our hugs to those undergoing cancer treatment in the area. Don’t forget – we are always open to more T-shirts!

The following students will be participating in All-State Chorus  and will not be in school on Friday, October 28th: Abi F, Sydney Z, Ashleigh F, and Aaron L.



The Woonsocket All-State Chorus quartet will be performing in section CC at the Premier Center on Saturday, October 29th. Anyone interested in attending the concert may download the ticket order form from their website and send it in to the Premier Center Box Office, or they may call them directly to order tickets. Tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, October 18th at 10:00 a.m. ​


$19 - Reserved Sections
$14 - Adults
$8 - Students

The T-Hug quilters are in need of more cancer related shirts! Please dig through your stash and donate them to this worthy cause! Don't forget that we are always in need of cash donations too. There will be a Trunk or Treat in Woonsocket Wednesday from 5:30-7:00 in the lot east of the Methodist Church.


The T-Hug quilters are in need of more cancer related shirts! Please dig through your stash and donate them to this worthy cause! Don't forget that we are always in need of cash donations too. Shirts can be dropped off at Sanborn Central, the Woonsocket school, or contact Mary McKillop Ackman for other drop off points. They don't need to be from this area!

Staff members can receive their flu vaccine on Monday, Oct. 24th at the flu clinic starting at 7:30 a.m. in the library. Those on our Sanford Group plan can bring their insurance card or a roster will be available for the nurses office to fill out – those on anther plan will need to bring a copy of their insurance card and the nurse’s office will submit the claim. The clinic will run until all shots are administered, so the earlier the better and you will need to bring the consent form that is available on the school website.

The following students will be participating in All-State Chorus  and will not be in school on Friday, October 28th: Abi F, Sydney Z, Ashleigh F, and Aaron L.



The Woonsocket All-State Chorus quartet will be performing in section CC at the Premier Center on Saturday, October 29th. Anyone interested in attending the concert may download the ticket order form from their website and send it in to the Premier Center Box Office, or they may call them directly to order tickets. Tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, October 18th at 10:00 a.m. ​

Are you interested in joining Winterguard, but aren’t sure how to spin or toss a flag? No problem!! The Blackhawks Winterguard will be holding practices for students that are interested to see what it is all about!!! Only requirements are that you are a member of band and are at least in 7th grade. 

Pre-season practices are the following:
3:45 to 5:30pm Tues Oct 25th @ Sanborn Central
3:45 to 5:30pm Wed Oct 26th @ Woonsocket
3:45 to 6:00pm Tues Nov 1st @ Woonsocket

Happy Birthday to Xavier Baysinger

Congrats to the boys football team on their win last night. Playoff action starts Tuesday, October 25 in Gregory at 7:00 pm.

Friday 10-21 is the vollleyball team's "Cancer Awareness Night" we play at SC against Bridgewater Emery. There will be a pork loin feed that starts at 5:15. Volleyball parents please double check with your daughters if you were asked to donate a pan of bars or $5. Money can be given to coaches. Jodi Doering is taking bars to Sanborn Friday morning at 8:15- you can bring your bars to the concession stand. Please come out and support the girls and enjoy a great meal, awareness of all cancer, and the opportunity to win some great prizes!
