School News

Happy Birthday to Xavier Baysinger

Congrats to the boys football team on their win last night. Playoff action starts Tuesday, October 25 in Gregory at 7:00 pm.

Friday 10-21 is the vollleyball team's "Cancer Awareness Night" we play at SC against Bridgewater Emery. There will be a pork loin feed that starts at 5:15. Volleyball parents please double check with your daughters if you were asked to donate a pan of bars or $5. Money can be given to coaches. Jodi Doering is taking bars to Sanborn Friday morning at 8:15- you can bring your bars to the concession stand. Please come out and support the girls and enjoy a great meal, awareness of all cancer, and the opportunity to win some great prizes!

Staff members can receive their flu vaccine on Monday, Oct. 24th at the flu clinic starting at 7:30 a.m. in the library. Those on our Sanford Group plan can bring their insurance card or a roster will be available for the nurses office to fill out – those on anther plan will need to bring a copy of their insurance card and the nurse’s office will submit the claim. The clinic will run until all shots are administered, so the earlier the better and you will need to bring the consent form that is available on the school website.

Seniors and Parents - Financial Aid night will be November 7th at 6:00pm at the Woonsocket School. We will be learning about the Federal Student Aid Application (FASFA) and school loans.



Congratulations to the following students who have been chosen to participate in the Junior High Music Festival held in Platte on November 22nd: Ellie VonEye and Morgan Schmiedt (soprano), Aleya Fry and Kaitlin Brueske (alto), Collin Schmiedt and Tyler Eddy (baritone), Andrew Lindgren and Mary Frances Bruce (clarinet), and Gabe Boschee (trombone).

      We understand families may have weekend plans, especially on Sunday. We do not want to interrupt these activities. We certainly would like all HS players to be at weekend practices, but do understand if it is not possible. Please let the coaches know if someone needs to miss a practice this weekend.

Band/Music

Pep Band plays tonight @ SC.

The following students will be participating in All-State Chorus  and will not be in school on Friday, October 28th: Abi F, Sydney Z, Ashleigh F, and Aaron L.



The Woonsocket All-State Chorus quartet will be performing in section CC at the Premier Center on Saturday, October 29th. Anyone interested in attending the concert may download the ticket order form from their website and send it in to the Premier Center Box Office, or they may call them directly to order tickets. Tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, October 18th at 10:00 a.m. ​

Are you interested in joining Winterguard, but aren’t sure how to spin or toss a flag? No problem!! The Blackhawks Winterguard will be holding practices for students that are interested to see what it is all about!!! Only requirements are that you are a member of band and are at least in 7th grade. 

Pre-season practices are the following:
3:45 to 5:30pm Tues Oct 25th @ Sanborn Central
3:45 to 5:30pm Wed Oct 26th @ Woonsocket
3:45 to 6:00pm Mon Nov 1st @ Woonsocket

The T-Hug quilters are in need of more cancer related shirts! Please dig through your stash and donate them to this worthy cause! Don't forget that we are always in need of cash donations too. Shirts can be dropped off at Sanborn Central, the Woonsocket school, or contact Mary McKillop Ackman for other drop off points. They don't need to be from this area!
