School News

End of 1st quarter is Thursday.
P/T conferences for Junior High and High School students are on Thursday and will take place in the gym from 3 to 7PM. Parents can check in anytime during that time frame.
Eligibility will be checked on Monday. Anyone receiving a "F" in any class will be ineligible to participate in activities for one week which includes campus privileges.

The Woonsocket NHS will be serving Hamburger and Chips for $7, or just a hamburger for $4 at the Volleyball Game against Wessington Springs today.

The Friends of the Library are sponsoring the Scholastic Book Fair at the Woonsocket Community Library. The event opens for sales beginning Wednesday, September 14th from 4:30 to 6 pm. The Fair continues Thursday from 8 am to 7 pm. Profit from proceeds will be used to purchase books for the library. You can shop online by going to Woonsocket homepage and logging into the online site. http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/woonsocket. Books will be shipped to the school with free shipping and credits going to the fair. Thank You for your support.

Juniors and Seniors - September 20th is College Fair Day.We will be leaving Woonsocket at 8:15am. DON'T FORGET Money for lunch! If you have not registered for the day with Mrs. Johnson please see her this week. 

DSU College Rep will be here to visit with interested students on September 26th at 9:30am.

Monday, September 19th we have the JH team at Wolsey for a jamboree starting at 4:00 pm.  We also have the JV team at Redfield for a 5:00 pm game.  We are going to take one bus and drop off JH at Wolsey and bus will continue to Redfield. WS bus will meet Woonsocket and Sanborn Central players at junction. Because of this arrangement we are asking as many as possible JH and even JV players ride home after games with their parents. Please let me know if you will or will not be able to take your son home after respective games. If you cannot give them ride home after game, that is OK as we will make sure they get home.  Just trying to get an idea of how many we will have on buses on way home.

Basketball

The Sanford Pentagon Basketball Academy will be offering Weekly Shooting Workouts in Mitchell at the Mitchell Rec Center starting in September.

Boys and Girls Gr. 4-8 – Tuesdays – Sept. 13, 20, 27 & Oct. 4 – 6:00-7:30 p.m. each time.

Boys and Girls Gr. 7-12 – Saturdays – Sept. 17, 24, Oct. 1& Oct. 8 – 2:00-3:30 p.m. each time.

Wessington Land and Range School will be held next Wednesday, September 21st. Leave times TBA.

The sign up sheet for the Wessington Land and Range School is on the board in the Ag Room. Sign up deadline is the end of the day Tuesday.

 



Band/Music


Marching Band

The marching band will not be going to Platte next Friday Sep. 16th. Instead, we will be having an all day camp at Woonsocket from 9am to 3pm to finish learning our routine for parade.


5th Grade- Beginning Band



The 5th grade students have been learning about the instruments the last few weeks. This week, they will be trying out all the different band instruments. At the end of the week, I will be sending home a letter about 5th grade band and what instrument they were most successful on.

Tuesday Sep. 13th, Dave Williams will be in the Woonsocket for an instrument showcase from 6pm to 8pm. Stop by and get your student an instrument and then stick around to support your Blackhawks volleyball!!
