School News

Happy Birthday to Anthony Sentell.

There will be a 7-12 boys basketball meeting at SC on Monday (Nov. 21) at 2:45PM. 7th/8th practice and HS boys open gym will follow at SC. Transportation will be provided for Woonsocket players.

Boys JH and HS open gym will be held after school at SC also on Tuesday and Wednesday with transportation provided. (note: Wednesday early dismissal at 1:30PM)    


American Education Week

Staff News

Mr Weber will be serving out biscuits and gravy this Thursday morning in the commons at 7:45AM before Tutor Day/Inservice for American Education Week. Thanks for all you do.


Mr. VanDenHemel will hold defibrillator training in 3:30PM in Mr. Olsen's classroom.   It is very important that everyone knows how to use this.

Thursday, November 17th Tutor/In-Service Day, dismissal @ 11 AM.
Friday, November 18th -No School 
Wednesday, November 23rd (this is a makeup day) 1:30 PM dismissal. This is a RED day.


State Volleyball November 17-19 Huron, South Dakota

We play Northwestern at noon on Thursday, November 17th

Theme Days for the Tourney are:
Thursday- Cowboy-Country Theme(Chosen by Woonsocket Student Body)
Friday- Secret-Agent Theme (Chosen by Sanborn Central Student Body)
Saturday- Everyone- BLACKHAWK DAY

A meeting room at the YWCA on east side of crossroads has been reserved for a SOCIAL by the booster clubs for SC/W parents/players/fans on Thursday after the first session around 4:30PM. A taco bar from Taco Johns will be set up and socials for Friday and Saturday will be announced at a later time.

Tickets will be sold in Huron at the Huron Arena starting one hour before. There will be no advanced sale to the qualifying school.



All of the preliminary tournament matches will be streamed online at http://www.sdpb.org/volleyball/2016-2017/

You will also find live game statistics, photos, social media and blog posts at that same website.
Becky Hinker will watch children at her home on the 17th and 18th. You can call or text her @ 605-350-5541.

Dual Credit applications are now being accepted for the spring semester. There is applications in Mrs. Johnson's office. We need to have all applications sent in prior to Christmas vacation.

Mitchell High School is offering an ACT prep class on Monday nights starting November 14th - December 5th. The cost is $50. See Mrs. Johnson for details.

You also all have access to free ACT Prep through SD Mylife which has proven to increase test scores by 3 points. See Mrs. Johnson for more info.

Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central Blackhawk football program will have their Awards Night on Monday, November 21st at 6:30 pm in Wessington Springs at elementary school.

This is for players in grades 7-12.

This is a potluck. Below are the potluck assignments:
· Seniors and Juniors - hotdish
· Sophomores - salad
· Freshmen - dessert
· 8th graders – hotdish
· 7th graders – salad or dessert

We will provide plates, silverware, napkins, and drink

Upcoming Events


Co-Ed Volleyball at Sanborn Central on Sunday’s. We will start on November 13th and the 20th, then December 4th, 11th and 18th.  It will cost $15 per person. Teams will consist of 3 men and 3 women playing.  If you have a team ready to go, just let me know, Tambi.wormstadt@fcsamerica.com or 605-770-3077. Or you can talk to any booster club member.  Otherwise if you don’t have a team and would still like to play, come and we will put you with a team if we can.  We will start at 3 pm each Sunday and go until teams have played.  There will be a waiver to sign if you are playing.  Hope to see you there!!

Don't miss this if you need Winter Gear, Wed 11-16-16  6th Grade Classroom

Giveaway is Confidential


Winter Gear Drive
The Town & Country Kids 4H Club (red group) along with Woonsocket's Sixth Grade students will be collecting new or gently used winter gear for all ages. The donations will be distributed to anyone needing coats, snow pants, gloves/mittens, hats and scarves for the cold weather.

The collection will be held from now until November 15th. If you wish to donate, collections boxes will be places around Woonsocket or at the 6th Grade classroom.

Anyone needing winter wear can come to Woonsocket's 6th Grade classroom on Wednesday, November 16th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Individuals who can not attend at the scheduled time may call the school office to arrange another time. Any winter ear left over will be donated to the Rose Bud Reservation.
