School News

 2016 Homecoming Theme- Olympics

9-07-16 Wednesday- Cartoon
2nd Annual Homecoming Wars held on Wednesday night, Sept. 7 at 8PM in the Gymnasium.  Pizza and refreshments being served by the booster club.  Games held between high school classes. Spectators welcome.

9-08-16 Thursday- Senior Citizen Day

9-09-16 Friday- Spirit Day (Black & White)
Parade at 1:00

The Woonsocket Reading Club for Grades 7 through 12 will run similiar to previous years.  A copy of the guidelines is posted on the bulletin board outside the library.  Students that earn 40 or more AR points in a quarter will be rewarded at the end of the quarter.  Students that are off to a great start and have earned 20 or more points so far this school year are: Nathan Linke, Kadin Schlenker, Raelyn Weber, Cage Boschee, Graceana Terkildsen, Madison Schmiedt, Andrew Lindgren, Kaitlin Brueske and Xavier Baysinger.

Any student or parent who would like to have access to parent portal on infinite campus to see grades/attendance/etc., please email Rick.Olsen@k12.sd.us.

The Sanford Pentagon Basketball Academy will be offering Weekly Shooting Workouts in Mitchell at the Mitchell Rec Center starting in September.

Band/Music
The marching band will not be going to Platte next Friday Sep. 16th. Instead, we will be having an all day camp at Woonsocket from 9am to 3pm to finish learning our routine for parade.
All State Chorus auditions will be held on September 8 at 11:05 in the music room.  Those not auditioning will be reporting to other classrooms.

Wednesday, September 7th

Feeding South Dakota plans food giveaway in Woonsocket, SD!

Truckload of food will be distributed to area families in need.

Sanborn County Food Pantry, in partnership with Feeding South Dakota, will be hosting a truckload food giveaway in Woonsocket, SD. An estimated 22,000 pounds of food will be distributed beginning at 5 PM and continuing until all of the food is gone. There are no restrictions of eligibility except that only one box of food will be distributed per family in need.

Boxes will contain assorted frozen and fresh produce, frozen meats, assorted breads and assorted canned and boxed items. The truck will be located at the Woonsocket Community Center. Boxes will be available at the location, but you can bring your own if you wish.
