School News


Students: Please check in with Chris for your attendance on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, as Emily will be gone. 


Lego Club is done for the year. Thank you to everyone who participated in this!


The 3rd Quarter ends this week on March 10th!!


Jason Kolousek will be in Woonsocket for Football meeting today after school at 3:15PM.

"They will need workout clothes. This would be current 7th-11th graders going out next year.  If 7/8 graders need to ride bus home or do not have a ride that is fine if they are not there. I need to see the HS players for sure."


Juniors - Please take you computers to Mr. Olsen ASAP. He will need to downloaded needed software to complete the Smarter Balanced testing. 




Athletics

Congratulations to the Lady Blackhawks who defeated Castlewood Friday Night! They advance to the State B Tournament in Huron. The Lady Blackhawks will play Wall on Thursday Night at 7:45PM at the Arena.

**The Girls State Class B Tournament will be broadcasted on www.SDHSAA.com website. 
All of SCW’s games will also be broadcasted on KMIT.

1)    A send off for the Girls Basketball Players will be at 7:45AM in front of the High School.

2)    A Conference Room at the Crossroads has been reserved for a SOCIAL by the booster clubs for SC/W parents/players/fans on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  The Booster Club Hospitality Room will be over-flowing with excitement and fellowship at the B’s. Thursday at 4:30 enjoy Pizza (free will offering) with a 5:00PM Pep Rally. Friday at 4:30 for cookies/cupcakes (free will offering), and Saturday at 4:30PM they will be serving Subway Sandwiches (free will offering).


3)    Tickets for Qualifying Schools. Tickets will be sold in Huron at the Huron Arena starting one hour before. There will be no advanced sale to the qualifying school.

4)       State Tournament Regulations for Fans. Sportsmanship/Conduct - Administrators responsibility. No signs, banners or noisemakers allowed, no jumping on bleachers, including any other rules & regulations.

Friday- Cowboy-Country Theme (Chosen by Woonsocket Student Body)
Saturday- Everyone- BLACKHAWK DAY


A WELCOME HOME CELEBRATION has been scheduled for 12:00PM on Sunday in the Woonsocket Gym.  A caravan will meet and escort the team from the 3 mile corner east of Woonsocket starting at 11:45AM.  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to show support for our Blackhawk Girls Basketball Team.

Band

The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks Band and Winterguard will present a concert/performance on Monday, March14th at 7 pm at Woonsocket School.  The event will include band concert music, percussion ensembles, and Winterguard.  Prior to the concert (6 pm) as well as following the concert, the band parents invite you to a dessert/ice cream social, with free will donation proceeds going to the Rob Baruth Fund.




FFA

On Friday SC/W FFA participated in the District 6 CDEs in Redfield.  We focused on four events, Ag Mechanics, Agronomy, Farm Business Management, and Meats.  SC/W was represented well by our students.  We’re looking forward to building on the success we saw in Redfield as we move on to Platte CDEs and prepare for the 2016 SD FFA State Convention.
